Loyalty to the God of Light

Because the Light will continue to shine, and darkness will cease to blind...

There is a competition for attention in the world. When Christians are asked to choose between Light and Darkness, they would normally choose the Light, and add with passion, "Of course!" From there, all is well and good. However, some of us have not really defined the distinction between Light and Darkness. This may look obvious, but the mixture is really gray. Contamination and dilution have its consequences.

Creation was established with the separation of light and darkness.[Gen 1:4] But then, the world loved the darkness more than the light.[Jn 3:19] As children of the light, we have a different behavior.[1 Th 5:5-6] We once belonged to the dark side, but Jesus redeemed us from it.[Col 1:12-13]

We are now encouraged to have nothing to do with darkness. Rather, we should expose them.[Eph 5:11] So here is a little exposé: The magic, witchcraft, sorcery and evil powers we see on TV, books, and the movies are real.

Yes, there is commercialism and business hype involved, which makes it more ironic, but they are all real. The spirit world is real, and the concepts behind the characters are all too real.

Since they are all true, then how can it be fun and entertaining?

Here is a true story of the powers of darkness in the Bible:

In the book of Acts, we find the Apostle Paul gaining ground for the Gospel and pushing back the dominion of darkness. He went about casting out demons from people and they got delivered.

A group of exorcists, 7 brothers, tried to imitate Paul's 'technique.' They said, "In the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out."[Ac 19:13] The evil spirit answered, "Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?" Then the demon-possessed man overpowered them, 1 against 7, and the brothers ran out bleeding and stripped.

The news reached the community and the power behind the name of Jesus invoked by His true servants was held in high honor - the only and true Highest Power of all.

Because of this, sorcerers, witches, warlocks and medium-practicers surrendered their scrolls of incantations and divinations and other paraphernalia of witchcraft and sorcery, and had them burned in public.[Ac 19:19] They did not see it a waste to destroy such, even though those materials cost a big amount of money. Destroying those emblems of evil was the turning point in their lives - the fruit of repentance.

The reality is this: Not all of those scrolls were burned. We have been informed by hearsay, folklore and even by the movies that the knowledge of evil had been handed down from generation to generation. Long before the printing press was invented, they have been reproduced by hand and by word of mouth.

So now, do you really know what it means to separate light from darkness? You have known the command "Have nothing to do with darkness." You are now without excuse.[Rom 1:20]

Are you entertained by evil and the dominion of darkness?

What would be your personal approach as you repent from it?
