After water baptism, you are now able to serve God and live for Him with a clear conscience. Now you need power, God’s holy power.
Before we were saved, the Holy Spirit was already wooing us to submit to the Lordship of our Savior Christ Jesus. He convicts us of our sins, showing us which are white and black in this world of gray areas. When we got saved, we became the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. He lives in us. And it doesn’t stop there, there’s more to those who wants more. You have come to the next level of endless possibilities, the third wish of unlimited wishes.
God wants you to have more. He wants you to be filled with the Holy Spirit. When you get baptized in His holy presence, He will be upon you. Please follow the illustration of a water pitcher and a cup.
Before salvation, the Holy Spirit is with us.
We are the empty cup and the Holy Spirit is the pitcher of water.
In salvation, the Holy Spirit is in us.
After Holy Spirit baptism, the Holy Spirit is upon us.
With the Holy Spirit upon you, you can live a victorious Christian life. It takes real strength to say no to sin and temptations, but only with God’s strength in you. You can now endure and persevere. You will be anointed to accomplish things for the glory of God.
"But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everywhere--in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8 NLT)
The purpose of the infilling of the Holy Spirit is to receive power from on high. The use of power is to live a life patterned after the goodness of God, to be a public announcement through actions and words that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior of anything that we need saving from. We are to be an active and bold witness. Without the Holy Spirit’s help, we are powerless.
Now, whoever said that Christian living is boring? There is more than meets the eye with God, as you allow Him to transform you into the kind of person you were meant to be.
